Beat the Heat with Momma’s Fruity Doggie Pup-ciclces Recipe
A Cold Treat Recipe for Dogs Like Me + My Labby-Siblings
I know you’ve experience a sweltering summer day, the kind where humidity is so high you can wring out your hair… or in my case, fur. My pawsome fur helps keep me cool but sometimes momma gives me a little something extra to cool me off. Keep reading for her super-quick, super-easy, super-pawsome recipe for Fruitie Doggie Pup-cicles.
Sometimes momma makes the super-simple ones where you mix goat milk, mashed blueberries and watermelon, but today she’s giving you a peak at the way she sneaks in extra goodies {I thinks she calls them nutrients}.
The best part about these doggie pop-cicles is I get to lick the molds. I can’t wait!
Here’s a look at her ingredients today…
Broccoli (she obviously thinks this is a fruit and I don’t have the heart or tail to tell her it’s a veggie)
Blueberries - my favorite
Apples sometimes (but no seeds)
Ginger Root - we wuvs our spice
Turmeric - root or powder, but she uses the powder
Goat Milk - creamy tastiness
Carrots - again… she must think I don’t know my fruits and veggies, or is she sneaking these in?
Cranberry Juice (or Chicken Broth) - double yums to both, but I’ms allergic to chicken
Next she purees it all in the Ninja and makes it like a smoothie. At first my labby-sibs and I thought she was making it for her because momma loves her smoothies, but then… she pulled out these flexible ice cube trays and instead of putting water in them… amazed us and poured the smoothie blend into the molds… momma is genius, me thinks!
We gets to snack on fruity dragonflies, butterflies, ladybugs and bees… and they all taste like fruit! Phenomenal, momma!!
The worst part of making Fruitie Doggie Pup-cicles is waiting for the big cold machine to freeze them solid. It takes furrrrr-ever. I’ms not a patient pup so furrrrr-ever feels like ultra-furrrrever. Momma walks us or takes us out to play so we forget but… who can forget frozen blueberries? I think I’m already drooling. Nope, that’s Boone. It landed on my forehead.
But when momma brings out my snood, I know it’s go time. I gets to chow down on an ice-cold Pup-cicle.
Check out the info-graphics below for the recipe and why she chooses the fruit (and non-fruit she thinks are fruit) to put in our pup-sicles!
Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do!
